Appel à experts : rédaction technique et scientifique pour les pays francophones

AFF a déjà organisé un atelier de formation sur «La rédaction technique et la publication d’articles scientifiques» pour les acteurs forestiers africains anglophones du 20-24 juin 2022, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzanie. À travers le présent appel, AFF cherche à recruter deux experts pour animer le même type d’atelier de formation pour les acteurs forestiers africains des pays francophones.

BUT DE CE TRAVAIL
L’objectif de cette mission est de renforcer les capacités des acteurs forestiers africains en matière de rédaction et de publication de produits de connaissances scientifiquement solides.

TÂCHES SPECIFIQUES
Les tâches spécifiques des experts recherchés sont les suivantes :
• Préparer, en collaboration avec le Secrétariat de AFF, une note conceptuelle détaillée pour guider la formation, y compris un programme pour l’atelier de formation sur «le renforcement des capacités des acteurs forestiers africains en matière de rédaction et de publication d’articles scientifiques et de rapports techniques» ;
• Élaborer des documents de formation clairs et détaillés sur (a) la rédaction des rapports technique et articles scientifiques et (b) la préparation et la publication d’articles scientifiques;
• Faciliter une formation de 5 jours sous la forme d’un atelier de rédaction scientifique (c.-à-d. combiner la théorie et la pratique);
• Guider les participants sur les plans d’action individuels de production scientifique. Cela prendra en compte la finalisation et la publication d’au moins un article initié par chacun des participant au cours de l’atelier de formation;
• Préparer un rapport sur le déroulement de la formation et sur l’activité.

LIVRABLES ATTENDUS
• Note conceptuelle et programme de la formation;
• Matériel de formation (présentations PowerPoint, etc.) sur «la rédaction d’articles scientifiques et de rapports techniques et sur la préparation et la publication d’articles scientifiques», y compris un guide pour l’élaboration de plans d’action de production de documents scientifiques.
• Un rapport de la formation
• Un rapport sur l’activité.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCES ET EXPERIENCE
• Avoir un doctorat en foresterie, environnement, gestion des ressources naturelles, changement climatique ou domaines connexes;
• Démontrer une très bonne expérience en publication scientifique dans des revues réputées, y compris le développement de matériel didactique dans des domaines pertinents (voir ci-dessus);
• Faire preuve d’expérience en tant que membre du comité éditorial des revues scientifiques ou en tant qu’évaluateurs;
• Avoir l’expérience dans la conduite de formations similaires, c’est-à-dire sur la rédaction technique et scientifique.
• Les compétences en informatique, en particulier pour l’analyse de données et le reportage de résultats d’analyse, seront un avantage supplémentaire.
• Avoir de bonnes compétences en communication écrite et orale en français.

DUREE DE LA MISSION
Les tâches décrites dans ces termes de références (TdRs) sont de 5 jours d’atelier et de 5 jours de préparation et de rapportage, ce qui fait un total de 10 jours de charge de travail, commençant dès que possible (pour la préparation). Au cours des phases de préparation et de rapportage, l’expert recruté travaillera depuis sa résidence habituelle en étroite collaboration avec le personnel concerné du secrétariat de AFF.
La formation se déroulera sous la forme d’un atelier en présentiel du 10 au 14 octobre 2022.

AFF organized a training workshop on “Technical Writing and Publishing of Scientific Papers” for Anglophone African Forest Stakeholders from 20-24 June 2022, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Through this call, AFF seeks to recruit two experts to facilitate the same type of training workshop for African forestry actors from French-speaking countries.

PURPOSE OF THIS WORK
The purpose of this assignment is to build the capacity of African forest stakeholders to write and publish scientifically sound knowledge products.

SPECIFIC TASKS
The specific tasks of the experts sought are as follows:
• Prepare, in collaboration with the AFF Secretariat, a detailed concept note to guide the training, including an agenda for the training workshop on African forest actors in the writing and publication of scientific articles and technical reports”;
• Develop clear and detailed training materials on (a) writing technical reports and scientific articles and (b) preparing and publishing scientific articles;
• Facilitate a 5-day training in the form of a scientific writing workshop (ie combining theory and practice);
• Guide participants on individual science production action plans. This will take into account the finalization and publication of at least one article initiated by each of the participants during the training workshop;
• Prepare a report on the progress of the training and on the activity.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES
• Concept note and training program;
• Training materials (PowerPoint presentations, etc.) on “Writing Scientific Papers and Technical Reports and on Preparing and Publishing Scientific Papers”, including a guide for developing action plans for production of scientific documents.
• A training report
• A report on the activity.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
•  PhD in forestry, environment, natural resource management, climate change or related fields;
• Demonstrate very good experience in scientific publication in reputable journals, including the development of teaching materials in relevant fields (see above);
• Demonstrate experience as a member of the editorial board of scientific journals or as evaluators;
• Have experience in conducting similar training, ie technical and scientific writing.
• Computer skills, especially for data analysis and reporting of analysis results, will be an added advantage.
• Have good written and oral communication skills in French.

DURATION OF THE MISSION
The tasks described in these terms of reference (ToRs) are 5 days of workshop and 5 days of preparation and reporting, which makes a total of 10 days of workload, starting as soon as possible (for preparation). During the preparation and reporting phases, the recruited expert will work from his usual residence in close collaboration with the relevant staff of the AFF secretariat.

The training will take place in the form of a face-to-face workshop from October 10 to 14, 2022.

• Evidence of experience in conducting similar training and particularly on “technical and scientific writing”;
• A brief technical proposal of 3 pages (maximum) demonstrating how the tasks described in section 4 of this call will be accomplished within the specified time frame; this should include, at a minimum, the syllabus and a general outline of the program and course of the training.
