Green Climate Champions Award
GCF has developed GREEN CHAMPIONS GCF awards to recognise and promote the most noteworthy and successful efforts to fight climate change. The first installment of the GREEN CHAMPIONS GCF awards will recognise outstanding individuals and organisations who are driving climate transformation. The awards will promote initiatives that stand as examples of environmental, social and business-led commitments to combat climate change. This includes activities that limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions and those that encourage adaptation to climate change impacts.

There will be a total of 6 winners, one per category. 3 winners will be individuals, 3 winners could either be individuals or an organization. Each winner will receive the same benefits package consisting of the following:
Travel arrangements to COP25 in Santiago de Chile.
Media coverage during COP25.
Local Media Coverage in their own country

The different categories and the youth category
Currently the nominations are being sought in different (eight) categories of the award. These categories are:
Climate Gender Champion
Climate Youth Champion
Climate Community Champion
Transformational Country Champion
Climate Lifetime Achievement Champion
For each of the categories, there are a set of criteria, and questions. The application process is online. More specifically, for the youth category, nominations are being sought with the age limit being less than 25 years of age. This is therefore a category for individual applications.
The deadline is september 21st
